Your installation through Green Deal Communities

If you have any issues with your Solid Wall insulation you need to contact your installer in the first instance to discuss the issue. If your installer is no longer trading or do not address the issue satisfactorily then please contact your Insurance Backed Guarantee provider.

As part of the installation you would have been provided a guarantee certificate. Please contact the guarantee provider according to the instructions on the certificate.

We have been advised that Enterprise Insurance Company PLC is in liquidation. The insurance provider is a company called Green Deal and ECO Guarantee Company (GDGC) and this company are still active.

If the company who installed the work are still active they are responsible for the installation. Therefore if there are any issues with the work then the installer has to resolve them. It is only if the installer is no longer active would the responsibility divert to the insurance provider, the Green Deal and ECO Guarantee Company. The Green Deal and ECO Guarantee Company have said they will continue to honour the policies that were underwritten by Enterprise. If there are any issues and the installer is no longer trading then the Green Deal and ECO Guarantee Company are still able to support you.

As it stands the Insurance Backed Guarantee policies underwritten by Enterprise Limited have not been disclaimed or terminated by the liquidators for Enterprise Insurance Company PLC so they are still valid. Therefore if a claim was to arise, and the installer is no longer trading then the claim should be reported as per the instructions on the policy document to the Green Deal and ECO Guarantee Company. It is understood that the Green Deal and ECO Guarantee Company are attempting to find an alternative underwriter for these policies, and the information we have received is that the Green Deal and ECO Guarantee Company will continue to honour the policies for the foreseeable future. The Green Deal and ECO Guarantee Company as a company are using a different insurance company to underwrite new policies.

If this did not happen then the policyholder/resident would still be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

As the responsibility for the guarantee lies with the installer, and then the guarantee provider, we are not proposing to arrange new guarantees for residents, especially as the guarantees are also protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. If the status of the policies were to change in the future then you should receive further notification from either the Green Deal and ECO Guarantee Company or the Liquidator for Enterprise, Grant Thornton.  We are however trying to maintain updates of developments and we will post this information here so residents are clear of the position and who they need to contact in respects to a claim.
